SIG#2: Ultraviolet-Visible Cosmic Origins Space-Based Science and Technology Development

We announce the formation of a new Science Interest Group (SIG), under the auspices of the Cosmic Origins Program Analysis Group (COPAG) as approved by the Astrophysics Subcommittee, to study the future of UV-Visible Astronomy from space. The charter for this group is listed below and will be chaired by Paul Scowen (ASU) and is open to all members of the community. The initial meeting for this SIG will be held on the opening day of the upcoming 225th meeting of the AAS in Seattle, Sunday January 4th, at 9am in Room 304 of the Washington State Convention Center. Please plan to attend this opening session and time your travel accordingly. The opening meeting will include summary presentations of the state of the field from both a scientific and technological standpoint, as well as information about the funding and development landscape from NASA HQ. We expect the SIG to operate for many months to come and are building an email distribution list and website for information dissemination. Please RSVP to Paul Scowen (paul.scowen@asu.edu) for the meeting and to be added to this list. We look forward to your active participation in this work.
