PhysCOS & COR on Tap at 243rd AAS Meeting

The international phenomenon of Astronomy on Tap public outreach is excited to announce two events in New Orleans during AAS 243! Whether you'd like to learn from your colleagues, interact with the public informally (we'll help!), or learn how to launch your own satellite, these events are not to be missed.

Saturday, January 6, 7 – 9 pm: AoT + PhysCOS/COR Warm-Up at Howlin' Wolf

If you’re attending the next AAS Winter Meeting in New Orleans, consider joining us for a special “Astronomy on Tap” evening on Saturday 6 January 2024, taking place in The Den at the Howlin’ Wolf, beginning at 7p Central. We’ll be enjoying two accessible science talks on topics related to Physics of the Cosmos (by Ryan Hickox, Dartmouth University) and Cosmic Origins (by Rachael Beaton, STScI), as well as a trivia game, with prizes for audience participation. See here for information about all PhysCOS events at the 243rd AAS Meeting.

Tuesday, January 9, 7-10 pm: AoT All-Stars Krewe (ASK) at Republic NOLA (FREE registration required)

The worldwide phenomenon of Astronomy on Tap is coming to NOLA for this first time and what could be their biggest event ever! Experience space like never before with accessible, engaging presentations directly from the scientists who research it, along with music, trivia, prizes, giveaways, and more! There is always lots of time to ask questions and interact with the presenters and other scientists who inevitably tag along for the fun.

Learn about black holes, stars and exoplanets, the most exciting astronomy news, and more, and interact with hundreds of scientists in town for the “Super Bowl” of astronomy, the 243rd meeting of the American Astronomical Society.

Presenters include:

Both venues are very close to the convention center and will have food available for purchase. Note that we expect attendees to abide by the AAS code of ethics and anti-harassment policy even for these off-site events.

Attached are QR codes for the two events on the AoT HQ website and one for the AoT ASK Eventbrite registration link (with the ticket icon). Did you know you can save these to your mobile device and tap them to open the link?! Technology!

Hope to see you in NOLA!
